Peer Review Week 2016: Recognition for review

As one of the organizers of last year’s inaugural event, we are delighted to announce that Peer Review Week is happening again. It will run from September 19-26, 2016 - and you’re all invited to participate!

Building on the success of Peer Review Week 2015, we are working with a committee representing over 20 organizations, to organize a global event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific and scholarly quality. Peer Review Week 2016 will bring together individuals, institutions, and organizations committed to sharing the central message that good peer review - whatever shape or form it might take - is critical to scholarly communications.

This year’s theme is Recognition for Review, exploring all aspects of how to acknowledge those participating in review activity - in publishing, grant review, conference submissions, promotion and tenure, and more.

Planned activities include virtual and in-person events including webinars, videos, interviews and social media activities designed to improve understanding of the principle of peer review and how it is practiced within the scholarly community. We are also collating a comprehensive list of online resources to advance our understanding of peer review and its role in 21st century scholarship.

Please help support Peer Review Week by engaging with our social campaign (#PeerRevWk16 and #RecognizeReview), creating and sharing content/planning events about peer review (using the Peer Review Week logo as appropriate), and helping us spread the word. If you’d like your contributions to be featured on our website, please email details to PRWeek@aaas.org, using the subject line “Peer Review Week” and include a brief description of your event or resource.

More information will be available soon on what we’ll be doing at ORCID to celebrate Peer Review Week. We look forward to working with the ORCID community to achieve our goal of engaging everyone who cares about peer review in a few days of celebrations and discussions.
